BPI CyberAcademy Brings Cybersecurity Training to Cebu Law Enforcers
BPI has officially brought its CyberAcademy training program to Cebu, marking the first regional run of its flagship cybersecurity capacity-building initiative. The event reinforces the bank’s commitment to strengthening the country’s defense against rising cyber threats, especially in key digital hubs outside Metro Manila.
During the learning session held on November 27, 2025, at Seda Ayala Center Cebu, representatives from government and private institutions—including DOJ-OOC, PNP-ACG RACU 7, Zero Day Solutions Corp., and the Asian Institute of Management—joined BPI to support the region’s growing need for cybersecurity expertise.
Empowering Cebu’s law enforcement and prosecutors
The CyberAcademy 2025: Strengthening Cyber Capacity for Law Enforcement and Prosecutors training gathered more than 70 participants from PNP Region 7, the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU 7), and the Office of the Regional Prosecutor. The two-day workshop aimed to enhance their ability to investigate, respond to, and prevent cyber-enabled crimes affecting the public.
According to Elena Torrijos, BPI Head of Public Affairs and Communications, extending the program to Cebu highlights the region’s important role in the country’s expanding digital landscape. She noted that CyberAcademy was created to build a stronger and more coordinated frontline against online threats.
Strengthening collaboration against cyber scams
In his closing remarks, Col. Jay Guillermo of PNP-ACG RACU 7 emphasized the importance of teamwork between police investigators and prosecutors. He said the training provided a crucial opportunity for both groups to collaborate, improving their ability to deliver a unified response to cyber scams and financial fraud.

A pioneering cybersecurity training program
Launched in 2023 through BPI’s partnership with the DOJ–Office of Cybercrime, the BPI CyberAcademy is one of the Philippines’ pioneering programs focused on improving the cybersecurity capabilities of law enforcement and justice sector professionals. Its mission is to strengthen the nation’s resilience against financial cybercrime through practical training and multi-agency collaboration.
